Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program (KCHIP) is a federal and State initiative dedicated to providing free (low cost) health insurance to kids. This initiative is tailored to cater for children less than 19 years in families with incomes less than 200% of the federal poverty level and without health insurance. The State recognizes the importance of children having access to healthcare services and that is the major reason behind the initiative. The KCHIP program simply provides children with affordable and comprehensive health insurance.
This program covers the following services:
- Dental and Psychiatric care
- Inpatient and Outpatient Hospital Services
- Eye care, immunizations, checkups, physical, and speech therapy for children
- Laboratory tests as well as X-rays
- Eye Exams
- Prescription Medication
For individuals who are not sure whether the service they want to obtain is covered by KCHIP, one can call (800) 635-2570 and get the necessary information from qualified members of staff.
Kentucky residents, US citizens, and legal aliens can apply for the KCHIP program, provided they meet the minimum eligibility requirements set by the State of Kentucky. One of the major benefits of the KCHIP program is that one will be in a better condition to control health conditions and provide quality medical care for their children.
