Kansas Kancare Application Information

Started in 2013, Kansas Kancare is a low-cost medical service for the uninsured children residents of Kansas who belong to households with very low income. Some Medicaid beneficiaries may also avail of this program. Applicants must pass the interview conducted by the local representative.

Once an applicant becomes eligible for Kansas Kancare, he/she can be provided with the following services:

  • Medical checkups
  • Physiotherapy and psychological exams and services
  • Vaccinations
  • Eye and Ear exams and services
  • Prescribed medications
  • Hospital confinement
  • Laboratory exams including X-rays
  • Preventive oral care and services
  • Drug addiction services and treatments

The Kansas Kancare provides for the medical services of uninsured children residents of low-income Kansas families. To avail of this program, the applicant must be:

There are three ways to apply for the Kansas Kancare:

Online Applications

Online application takes only about 15 minutes. Go the Kansas Kancare self-service portal at: https://cssp.kees.ks.gov/ and do the following:

  1. Click on the tab that says "apply"
  2. Click "Sign Up" to create a new account
  3. Fill up all the required fields. Incomplete forms will not be accepted
  4. Click "submit"

Apply by Mail or in Person

You may go to your local Outstation Eligibility Staff Office and ask for an application or download and print the form which can be found here: https://kancare.ks.gov/

Apply by Phone

Contact the Kancare Clearinghouse at 1 (800) 792-4884 and ask for an application to be sent to you.

IMPORTANT:

Within a few days, you will hear from a Kansas Kancare representative. The application and interview process will be faster if you have the following documents at hand:

  1. Information about work and salary
  2. Social Security Numbers
  3. Birth Certificates
  4. Documents about child support
  5. Health Bills
  6. Proof of citizenship: US citizen, immigrant status, etc.
  7. Assets (for ages 65 and up)
  8. Monthly rental (for ages 65 and up)
