Medicaid Application Instructions


There are several ways to apply for Kansas Medicaid:

Online Applications

Online application takes only about 15 minutes. Go the Kansas self-service portal at: https://cssp.kees.ks.gov/ and do the following:

  1. Click on the tab that says "APPLY"
  2. Click "Sign Up" to create a new account
  3. Fill up all the required fields. Incomplete forms will not be accepted
  4. Click "submit"

Apply by Phone

Contact the Kancare Clearinghouse at 1 (800) 792-4884 and ask to have an application form sent to you.

IMPORTANT:

A certified Medicaid Eligibility Specialist will carefully review your application. Factors such as age, citizenship, disability and income limits will determine if can be eligible for the program. For faster processing, have the following documents with you:

To prove your identity:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Government-issued ID cards with picture (driver's license, passport, US citizen card, etc.)
  • Fill up all the required fields. Incomplete forms will not be accepted
  • SSS number

To prove your income limits:

  • Salary stubs or recent monthly payroll record
  • Documents that prove your income in SSS, Veteran's Administration, etc.
  • Health/ Life insurance plans
  • Bank Books
  • Property information such as real estate and bonds

Eligibility Requirements

Kansas Medicaid covers different groups of people. However, they must still pass the criteria set by the state. These groups are:

  1. Individuals aged 65 and over. Medicaid provides long-term medical assistance with co-pays and reimburses provable expenses even to seniors with higher income but are medically needy and to disabled seniors.
  2. Disabled persons. People with disabilities are provided with health services and long-term care through Medicaid.
  3. Children who belong to low income households, foster children and those with disabilities can recieve full medical Medicaid.
  4. Adults with low income and who pass certain criteria such as pregnant women, women with infants, women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer.
