Kentucky Unemployment Application Information

Kentucky Office of Employment and Training provides Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits to unemployed workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own or have experienced a reduction in working hours. This financial assistance is temporary in nature and ends when recipient finds work again.

UI benefits start from the week you file a claim. There are no retroactive benefits i.e. you don't get benefits for the weeks you have not filed a claim even if you were eligible for benefits during such period. Therefore, it is advised that you file your claims as soon as you become eligible for UI benefits. This way you won't lose any benefit amount.

In order to get UI benefits one needs to meet eligibility criteria. You will need to report your wages, provide information about your previous employment and reasons for separation from such employment before the amount of your benefits can be determined. The amount of benefits depends on wages that you have earned during the base period. Your eligibility will be determined once you file a claim and provide necessary information.

You can file your claims online. It is an easy and convenient way to submit your claims. You can file a claim from any computer connected to the internet but you can only do it yourself. You will be liable for any information that you enter in the application form. You can learn more about filing a claim online below.
