Nevada WAP Application Information



The Nevada Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is a federally funded program that seeks to reduce the cost of energy related utilities among low-income households by implementing energy efficiency measures in the homes of these families. With the exceptions of multi-family buildings (More than five housing units in a building) the program provides the following services free of charge to eligible households:

  • Replacement of broken windows and doors

  • Filling of cracks with caulking

  • Insulation of walls, attic and floors

  • Weather stripping, and

  • Implementation of safety measures such as inspection of furnaces, water heaters and cooking stoves

In order to qualify for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), applicants need to meet the program eligibility requirements. These eligibility requirements are based on the household income of the applicants, Area of residence, and the applicant’s participatory status in other social service programs such as TANF, SSI, and AID for families with children and LIHEAP.

The Nevada Weatherization Assistance Program distributes its services through a network of service providers spread around the state. These service providers are:

  • HELP of Southern Nevada

  • City of Henderson Neighborhood services

  • Las Vegas-Clark County Urban league

  • Nevada rural housing authority

  • Rural Nevada development corporation, and

  • Community services agencies

In order to qualify for the Nevada Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), applicants must be currently residing in the state of Nevada and should be US nationals or registered legal aliens.

Participation in Other Social Service Programs

Applicants to the Nevada Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), currently participating in other social service programs such as TANF, SSI, LIHEAP and AID for families with children are considered automatically eligible.
