New Hampshire Food Stamps (SNAP) Application Information

The New Hampshire Food Stamp Program provides low income residents with information about good nutrition and health. It also assists eligible households and individuals with benefits to buy food items at authorized grocery stores, and other participating food retailers.

Eligibility Requirements

To receive benefits, you must first apply and pass the eligibility requirements for New Hampshire. Strict eligibility guidelines determine whether or not you will qualify to receive The New Hampshire Food Stamps benefits. The most determining factors being:

  • Your household size and income
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be residing in New Hampshire
  • Your income must be below $2,422 for a family of four, though the amounts change and are based on different financial situation of the applicant.
  • If you own a car, it must not be worth more than $3,000

Once you are approved, an EBT card that will electronically deposit your benefit each month will be sent to you. This card is very similar to other debit card and can be used at any grocery store or super market that has been authorized to sell food stamps. You should know which particular products can be bought using your food stamps.

For residents who receive Food Stamps, there are services that can help them find and get a job. The program that assists in this humble course is voluntary. You can only enroll in the Food Stamp Employment & Training (FSET) program, if you are a beneficiary of FANF cash assistance. Technicians at FSET are always ready to assist you with your job search efforts and even refer you to other community services. In case you need to travel as a result of job search, they can cater for your travel costs at $.21 per mile, up to $40 per month, for a period of six months per year. FSET Technicians can offer this help either through the phone, or through mail, email or even fax. No face to face meetings required to get these services.

Once you apply, you will be contacted for an interview, during the interview, you will be required to produce the following documentation:

  • Provide proof of your identity
  • Provide proof of citizenship
  • Social security number
  • Proof of income and asset information
  • Names and birth dates of all those in your household
