Idaho WAP Application Information

Idaho Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) offers weatherization services for income eligible households so that they can cut down on their energy costs. The program offers a wide range of services to make homes energy efficient. WAP helps homeowners as well as renters as long as they meet income guidelines.

Idaho WAP provides four different types of services/benefits to ensure that low-income households are protected against harsh weather. These services include heating efficiency measures, conduction measures, infiltration measures, health & safety, and repair.

Idaho WAP improves heating system through heat efficiency measures. Eligible households may receive cleaning and tuning services for furnace as well as furnace repairing. Heating efficiency measures also include sealing heat delivery system to ensure minimum fuel consumption and maximum efficiency.

Conduction measures reduce heat loss and gain through ceiling and walls. Eligible households may qualify for installation of insulation. Heat ducts, floor, ceiling, walls, and water pipes will be insulated to ensure minimum conduction and maximum energy efficiency. Conduction measures may also provide replacement and repairing of windows and doors for qualified Idaho households.

Infiltration measures will reduce the flow of heat by sealing air leakage. Health & safety measures provide heating system diagnostic testing as well as general inspection for safety. Households may also qualify for repairs for general home improvement that can help improve energy efficiency.

Idaho WAP gives priority to the most vulnerable households. Families with young children, elderly, and disabled will move up the queue for weatherization benefits. Households with huge energy costs and low income will also get priority for WAP services.

Idaho WAP is available for low-income households whose household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Line (FPL). You can apply for the benefits through Community Action Partnership (CAP) by locating an office near you. You can also call Idaho Care-Line at 2-1-1 to get more information on the program.
