WAP Application Instructions


To apply for North Dakota WAP, you can choose any of the two methods.

Eligibility Requirements


If you are looking to receive North Dakota WAP services, then you will need to meet the following eligibility requirements for the program.

  • Only residents of North Dakota can apply for North Dakota WAP. You will need to show proof of your residence to prove this particular requirement for WAP.

  • You will only receive services if you are responsible for paying home energy costs. You will need to bring previous bills that you have been paying.

  • Your energy expenses must be high and you should have a genuine need for help with energy bills.

  • In case you are living in rented property, you need to obtain written permission from your landlord before you could qualify for WAP services in North Dakota.

  • Your annual income needs to be at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

If household size exceeds eight people, then simply add $7,920 for each additional person to find out income limit according to your household size.

Automatic Eligibility

Households with at least one person receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Aid to Families with Dependent Children will automatically qualify for the program.
