WAP Application Instructions


Applying for the Louisiana WAP is a fairly easy process, the first thing you need to do is to contact your nearest Louisiana WAP local agency available on the map on this page. (Louisiana WAP Local Agencies Contact Information)

At the Louisiana WAP local agency you will meet a program representative who will guide you through the application process. The program representative may ask you several interview questions directed at establishing your eligibility to the Louisiana WAP. Upon successful completion of the application process you will start receiving the benefits of the Louisiana WAP.

Eligibility Requirements


In order to qualify for the Louisiana WAP program, applicants need to meet a set of eligibility requirements. These eligibility requirements are categorized into the following categories:

  • Louisiana WAP income eligibility requirements

  • Louisiana WAP residential eligibility requirements

  • Participation in other social service programs

Louisiana WAP-Income Eligibility Requirements

In order to qualify for the Louisiana WAP applicants must have a total household income that is either equal to or less than the specified income maximum depending on the household size. Louisiana WAP –Residential Eligibility Requirements

In order to qualify for the Louisiana WAP, applicants must be residents of the state of Louisiana and US citizens or registered legal aliens.

Participation in other Social Service Programs

Individuals applying for the Louisiana WAP, who is currently participating in other social service programs such as AID for families with children, TANF, SSI and LIHEAP are automatically eligible for the program. This stems from the fact that these programs have similar eligibility requirements to the Louisiana WAP.
