In order to apply for the Alabama SNAP program, one can either fill out an online application form, or fill out a paper application

Online Application

Thanks to the internet, applying for the Alabama SNAP program is much easier and more convenient. Through the online application process you can fill out an application from the comfort of your home or any other convenient place at any time of day or night.

Another advantage of filling out an online application is that you can always stop at any point and pick up from where you left the next time you go online to fill the form. Paper Application

You can apply for the Alabama Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by filling out a paper application form. These application forms can be obtained from your nearest Department of Human Resources offices or by downloading at this link.

By visiting the Department of Human resources offices, you will be able to speak to a SNAP representative, who will give you the necessary information concerning the program and guide you through the application process. The representative will address any question or queries you may have concerning the program.

After getting all the information regarding the application process, you should proceed to fill out the application, making sure that you provide response for all the questions asked in the spaces provided. On filling out the form you should submit it personally at the DHR offices or by mailing it.

By doing this, you will be able to speak to an Alabama SNAP representative, who besides sending you an application form will, address any questions you may have concerning the program or the application process.


Eligibility Requirements

In order to qualify for the Alabama Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), you need to meet a specified set of eligibility requirements, these include:

  • You must be a resident of Alabama
  • You must meet the minimum household income, as specified in the income eligibility provisions. These are: $14,079 for a household of one, $18,941 for a household of two, $23,803 for a household of 3, $28,666 for a household of four, $33,527 for a household of five, $38,389 for a household of siz,$43,251 for a household of seven, $48,113 for a household of eight. And an additional $4,862 per person for larger households.
